Growing up, I watched my mother absolutely zip through books. She never let her hectic life of working and trying to manage four kids get in the way of letting herself be completely immersed in a new book. As I grew up this made me take on an entirely new appreciation for leisurely reading, and I was inspired to follow her and make leisurely reading a priority. The quarantine and lockdowns that have come with the territory of life during COVID-19 have brought many downs, but one thing that made me excited for each new day was the prospect of scoping out my next book. Reading was my solace this year. I read books that made me laugh, made me cry, and forced me to put my life in an entirely new perspective.
I read over 20 books in 2020, and I have rounded up the top 20 that made an impact on me. I hope any of these books are able to give you what they gave to me this year.
